Yarn needle

TENSION:

Stocking stitch using 4mm needles
22 sts x 30 rows = 10cm (4ins)

Ridge pattern = Rows 1 – 7: knit. Row 8: Purl
These 8 rows form pattern.

Using 3.25mm needles cast on 115 sts.
Knit 7 rows.
Purl 1 row.
Knit 3 rows.
12th row: K5, *inc into next st, K7, rep from * to last 6 sts, inc into next st, K5 (129 sts)
Change to 4mm needles.

Break yarn, thread through rem 17 sts, draw up firmly and fasten off.

Make up

Using the yarn needle sew in all loose ends and with right sides facing sew the two sides together.

To make tassel

Cut a piece of cardboard 10 cm long and wide.
Wind the yarn around the cardboard approx 25 times and cut off.
Cut a piece of yarn and thread it through the top and tie off tightly, cut the threads at the other end. Wind another piece of yarn around the ‘neck’ of the tassel.

Cups – Make 2.

1st row: Ch 40, turn.

2nd row: Tr into 3rd ch and every ch to end, turn

3rd row: Ch 2, tr into next tr and into every tr to end, turn

4th row: Ch 1, skip 1, 1dc, work 14 tr, increase in centre by working 2tr into each of next 2tr. Work 14tr and 1dc at end, turn.

5th row: Ch 1, skip 1, 1dc, work 17tr, increase in centre by working 2tr into each of next 2tr. Work 14tr, 1dc, turn.

6th row: Ch 1, skip 1, 1dc, work 16tr, skip centre, work 14 tr, 1dc into last tr, turn.

7th row: Ch 1, skip 1, work 2tr, skip centre, work 14tr, 1dc into last tr, turn.

6th row: Decrease 1tr on top edge of bra (5tr)

10th row: Decrease 1tr on top edge of bra (3tr)

11th row: Work 3tr, turn. Ch 60 and dc into every ch for back ties.

To finish off edges you can dc all around each edge.

Finishing

Sew body pieces together along the back. Sew head gusset in position by joining cast off edge of gusset to back stitches and cast on edge beneath stitches cast on at front edge, having the widest part at the top of the head. Sew to either side of head. Attach safety eyes or using scrap yarn, embroider eyes. Embroider nose and mouth. Sew edges and underneath part of body, leaving an opening. Stuff firmly and close opening. Sew ears to either side of head. Fold legs in half lengthwise and sew cast off edge and side seams. Stuff firmly and close opening. Sew legs to underside of body. Fold tail in half length-wise and sew seam, leaving cast on edge open. Stuff lightly and close seam. Sew tail in position

BACK AND FRONT ALIKE
Using size 5mm needles, cast on 101 (110, 119) sts Follow lacy scallop pattern for 44cm (46, 48) ending with row 5 of pattern Decrease 10 sts evenly over the next row (knit throughout) 91 sts (100, 109)

Change to 4mm needles and in K3, P3 rib cast off 3 sts at beginning of next 8 rows, then decrease one stitch each end of following 8 rows. 51 sts (60, 69) remain, leave these on holder.

SLEEVES
Make two With 5mm needles cast on 65 sts (74, 83) Follow lacy scallop pattern for 45cms (47, 49) Ending with row 5 of pattern. Decrease 4 sts evenly over the next knit row. 61 sts (70, 79) Change to 4mm needles and in K3, P3 rib cast off 3 sts at beginning of next 6 rows, then decrease 1 st at each end of next 8 rows. Put remaining 27 (36, 45) sts on holder.
Using 3.5mm circular needle pick up and rib across back, sleeve, front, sleeve.

NOTE. To keep continuity of ribbing, it may be necessary to increase or decrease a stitch at the junctions of one or more pieces. If more than one stitch needs adjusting, do this over the next two rows. You should then be able to K3, P3 along the entire row.
Continue in rib as set until ribbing measures 12cms from beginning. Cast off loosely.

MAKE UP
Using a tapestry needle, sew raglans and neck with a flat seam. Sew sleeves and side seams.

Using black yarn make 199 ch loosely.
Row 1: Tr in 4th ch from hook and in next ch, *skip 2ch, tr in next ch; ch 1, 2 tr in next ch, skip 3 ch, 2 tr in next ch; ch 1, 2 tr in next ch; rep from last 5 ch; skip 2 ch, tr in each of last 3 ch.

Row 2:Ch 3, tr in each of next 2 tr, skip next 2 tr, work a shell (2tr, ch 1, 2tr) in next ch 1 space * skip next 4 tr, work a shell in next ch 1 space; rep from *to last 4 tr,
Skip next 2 tr, tr in each of the next 2 tr. tr in top of ch 3 changing to white (to change colours; work tr until 2 loops rem on hook, finish off colour being used, leaving approx 10cm of yarn for weaving in later. With new colour {leave 10cm} YO and draw through 2 loops on hook = colour changed)

Row 3: Using white, ch 3, tr in each of next 3 ch* work a  shell in ch – 1 space of next shell: work a puff between shells in 2nd row below (To work a puff, {YO and insert hook between shells in 2nd row below, hook yarn and draw up  a long loop to height of  the working row} 4 times {9 loops now on hook} YO and draw through 8 loops on hook, then YO and draw through 2 rem loops on hook = puff made) rep from * to last shell; work a shell in ch 1 space of last shell, tr each of next 2 tr, tr in top of ch 3

Row 4: Ch 3, tr in each of next 2 tr *work a shell in ch 1 space of next shell: rep from * to last 2 tr, tr in each of the last 2 tr, tr in top of ch 3

Row 5: Rep row 4, changing to grey at end of row (as explained in row 2.)

Row 6 – 8: Using grey, rep rows 3 to 5 at end of row 8 change to black.

Rows 9 to 11: Using black, rep rows 3 to 5 at end of row 11, change to white.

Repeat Rows 3 to 11 until throw rug measures approx 150cm long, ending by working Row 10 (2 rows of black completed. Finish off weave in all loose ends
