How to Measure

Curtains

You will need to decide whether your curtains will hang from a track, pole or decorative rod. If you are using an existing track or intend to install a new track system, you should ensure it will extend past the window on both sides so that the curtain can be pulled clear of the window. pole sets or decorative pole systems are always extended beyond the window.

Width Measurement

Existing Track - Measure total track width including the outside returns (track bracket that returns to the wall) and add 20cm for overlap on the centre. This will determine total width required.

No Track - when there is nothing up on the window, you will need to answer the following questions,

How much past the window frame will the track be mounted?

Will you have just the one curtain on this window or also hang a sheer?

Are the curtains going over a blind?

For a single track with one curtain, measure the total distance and add 40cm. (this will include the outsie returns and centre overlaps)

For a double track or a curtain that will mount over a blind please add 50cm. ( this allows 30cm on the outside and 20cm for the overlaps)

Pole sets and decorative poles measure total width required.

Drop Measurement

Simply measure from the top of the track to the desired length you require your curtain. For Pole sets and decorative poles you will be required to measure from the base of the rings to the finished length.

Curtain drops may finish at the floor, to the sill or just below the sill. please refer to the below diagram.
