    Designed and knitted by Julee Latimer - artist and designer. Julie says that allowing the yarn to 'speak to me' is the way she comes up with georgeous designs for Lincraft - like this classically beautiful shrug.


    Success in this pattern does not depend on perfect tension, therefore no tension details are given.
    To fit size small (medium & large shown in brackets)
    Length (elbow to elbow) 89cm (97cm, 107cm), Width 50cm (54cm, 58cm)

    MAIN BODY PATTERN (lace)
    1st row: (right side) – k1 (yo, s1 k1 psso, k1 k2tog yo k1) to end
    2nd row: Purl
    3rd row: k2 (yo s1 k2tog psso yo k3) to end
    4th row: Purl

    EDGING PATTERN (zig zag)
    Cast on 6 stitches
    Knit one row
    1st row: k2 yfwd k2tog yfwd k2 (7 sts)
    2nd row: k2 (yfwd k1) twice yfwd k2tog k1 (9 sts)
    3rd row: k2 yfwd k2tog yfwd k3 yfwd k2 (11 sts)
    4th row: k2 yfwd k5 yfwd k1 yfwd k2tog k1 (13 sts)
    5th row: k2 yfwd k2tog yfwd s1 k1 psso k3 k2tog yfwd k2 (13 sts)
    6th row: k3 yfwd s1 k1 psso k1 k2tog yfwd k2 yfwd k2tog k1 (13 sts)
    7th row: k2 yfwd k2tog k2 yfwd s1 k2tog psso yfwd k4 (13 sts)
    8th row: Cast off 7 sts k2 yfwd k2tog k1 (6 sts)
    Rows 1 to 8 form zig zag pattern.
    Always end with row 8 before casting off knitwise.

    SHRUG
    Cast on 55 (61, 67) stitches using 7mm needles. Follow lace pattern as for main body until work measures 78cm ( 86cm 96cm). Cast off loosely. Cast on 6 stitches using 5.5mm needles. Follow zig zag pattern as for edging until work fits neatly around cast on edge. Repeat this for cast off edge. Sew edging neatly in place using a flat seam stitch. Fold garment in half lengthwise, right sides together and using slip stitch sew 20 cms from each edge to form sleeves. Follow zigzag pattern as for edging using 5.5mm needles until piece is long enough to fit neatly around the neckline. Sew in place using flat seam stitch.

    There is no need to block this garment.
