Yarn Required:
Lincraft Loopz

200g balls  2

DIFFICULTY •

TIPS:

• No needles required
• Work on a flat surface
• Stitches are formed by pulling loops (of working yarn) through loops (of project)
• To join a new ball to project, overlap three loops from the 1st ball with three loops from the 2nd ball. Work overlapping loops as one
• Right side of work will be facing throughout. Check back of work occasionally for missed loops

REQUIREMENTS:

• Wool needle for sewing up.
• 40cm x 40cm cushion insert.
• Matching plain yarn for sewing up.

CUSHION

Find end of ball and unwind a length.
Snip open the first 2 loops to create a tail for weaving in later.
Count 26 loops and lay them flat with loops facing upwards.

Row 1 (right side): Working from right to left, pull a loop of working yarn through each of the 26 loops of project as follows:

  • Pull a loop of working yarn through 3 project loops from back to front. Move working yarn to front of work.
  • Push next 2 loops from front to back.
  • Move working yarn to back of work. Continue working 2 stitches from the back, then 2 from the front. Until 1 loop remains.
  • Work last loop from the back.

Row 2: Working from left to right, skipping 1st edge loop, work loops from either front or back to match the previous row.
Row 3: Working from right to left, skip 1st edge loop, move working yarn to front of work, then push a loop of working yarn through each of the next 2 project loops from front to back. Move working yarn to back of work. Pull next 2 loops from front to back. Move working yarn to front of work. Continue working 2 stitches from the front, then 2 from the back until 1 loop remains. Work last loop from The back.
Row 4: Working from left to right, skipping 1st edge loop, work loops from either front or back to match the previous row. Last 4 rows form basketweave stitch pattern. Continue to work loops until Cushion measures 86cm from beg, ending working right to left.

BIND OFF:
To complete project, pull the first 2 loops of working yarn through the first 2 loops of project (back to front). Now, pull the second loop through the first loop, pull a third loop of working yarn through next loop, then pull that loop through the previous loop. Continue in this manner. Once row is complete and all loops except last one secured, cut working yarn and cut two loops open, draw yarn through last loop.

FINISHING:
Fold in half and sew side seams together (using a large wool needle). Place cushion insert inside and then sew the remaining seam. Sew in all ends.
