250g Softened Butter 2/3 Cup Caster sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 egg 2 Cups of Plain Flour (plus more for dusting) 1/4 cup of Cocoa 1 tsp Cinnamon

Make the Dough
    Mix butter, sugar & vanilla together until light and creamy (use an electric mixer if you prefer) Add egg and mix until combines Add plain flour, cocoa and cinnamon and mix well together, adding more flour if dough is not firm enough.
Making the Button Shapes Preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Roll out your dough onto a floured surface and using a round biscuit cutter, an egg ring, or a glass cut out disks. Place cut out shapes on a greased oven tray, and using a smaller glass/egg cup gently push into the disk to create a ridge. Using a skewer or chopstick, make 4 (or 2) holes in the centre of each biscuit. Bake at 180 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes. Tip: while they are delicious on their own, these biscuits can be iced for a more colourful display.
