A selection of 30cm wide Spotmania and Stripemania fabric (each flag requires30x32cm of fabric) 30cm light white fusible interfacing 3.5m red polycotton bias binding 25mm wide 1 red big button 38mm Sewing machine and matching thread Scissors and tape measureA4 sheet of paper

There are 7 flags on this bunting but you can addmore if you like. Just remember that you will needto increase the amount of bias binding required. Step 1 To make the flag template, fold an A4 sheetof paper in half lengthways and cut acrossdiagonally. The triangle’s sides will measure 21cm,31.5cm and 31.5cm. Step 2 For each flag cut out 2 triangles from a piece offabric using your paper template. Step 3 Using the interfacing cut out a triangle 5mmnarrower on the two long sides.Iron onto the back of a fabric triangle. Step 4 You will need 14 fabric triangles and 7 interfacing triangles to make 7 flags. Step 5 At this stage you can appliqué stars and/or holly onto the triangles if you like.On this example stars were appliquéd on two flags and holly on one (a red button was addedlater to complete the holly). Step 6 With right sides facing, sew 2 triangles (one withinterfacing ironed on) together on the two longsides allowing a 5mm seam. Trim the corner. Turninside out and press with a hot iron. Topstitch5mm in on the 2 long sides. Step 7 Complete the 7 flags. Sew together using the redbias binding. (You will find it easier if you iron thebias binding in half lengthways before sewing.) Step 8 Tuck in the end of the bias binding and sew the 2 edges together for 1m and then insert a flag and continue sewing, inserting flags with a 2cm intervalin between. After the last flag has been inserted sew the binding for 1m, tucking in the end.
