p> Easy Peasy Christmas Skirt Measurements given are for a skirt to fit an 8-10 year old, but the pattern is so forgiving you could easily shorten it for a younger child, lengthen it for an older one, or make an adult version! 75cm of fabric A sewing machine 20mm wide non-roll Elastic - cut in a length to fit the waist of the wearer. An iron and ironing board A hem ripper tool (optional).

Lay the fabric down and fold it in half with right sides together. Cut along fold line - so that you have 2 pieces of fabric. Zig Zag all edges on your sewing machine. Sew side seams and press open. Turn the bottom hem up 1cm and press flat. Turn again by another 1cm and press flat. Sew hem. Turn the top edge over 1cm and press flat. Turn it over again 4cm so that it is wide enough for the Elastic to go through with a little extra allowed. Sew a line of top stitching at the top of the skirt (this will give a neat finish and keep the elastic from bunching too much). Sew the Elastic casing closed. Open the inside of one side seam with the hem-ripper tool and thread the elastic through making sure it hasn't twisted as you go. Overlap the edges and sew the elastic together. Even out the gathered fabric and sew a small line of stitching at each side seam to make sure the elastic doesn't twist within its casing. You're done!
