4 pieces of pre-cut grey & yellow felt Variety of buttons Sharp scissors Needle & thread Sewing machine (to sew felt dots) or a length of chain

Using the templates below, cut a piece of backing fabric out of grey felt - Template A. Each flower is made up of circles layered on top of each other, which have been folded slightly at the middle point before stitching in place. To finish, each flower has a button in the centre. You will find templates for circles below, cut a few out, and layer them to create flowers. When you have made some flowers start stitching them on to the backing fabric, laying them close together so that they push against each other and the edges stand up.

Step 1

There is also a template for a petalled flower. Bunch it in the middle and stitch in place - adding a button in the centre if you would like it to stay more open.

To make the dotted felt garland, cut dots from the scraps of fabric - about 1cm across, but don't make them too even - imperfection is a lovely thing.

Starting with a scrap of felt, and being very careful to not get your fingers in the way of the needle, start feeding the dots through, under the needle, pulling gently on the scrap of felt as you go. The thread will hold the dots together and make a chain.

When you have finished threading all dots together and have a length of about 1 metre, run them back through pulling on the chain as you go, to reinforce the garland.

Take both loose ends of the garland, and sew them to the back of the base fabric with a needleand thread on one side. Step 3

Sew a button on the other side of the base fabric, and use that to loop the folded garland over to keep it in placefont.
