 Hessian - 14cm wide silver  Lace torchon  Poly cotton bias 25mm  Gutermann thread [colour 40]  Sullivans Cotton Twine 1ply  Pin  Scissors  Sticky tape


Step 1: Cut 50 cm hessian piece, cotton bias and lace [2].

Step 2: Pin cotton bias to middle of hessian piece. Overlap the lace edge of bias slightly and sew to hessian piece.

Step 3: Repeat on other side of bias.

Step 4: Fold end of hessian piece [wrong sides together] to create a seam for draw string.

Step 5: Repeat at other end.

Step 6: Pin right sides together and sew both sides [from under the seams to the fold].

Step 7: Cut 6 pieces of 50 cm lengths of twine. Knot all 6 together at one end and tape to table. Using 2 per strand – plait drawstring.

Step 8: Place a bit of tape at one end of the draw string.

Step 9: Feed draw string through seam on both sides. Remove tape and tie a knot at the end.
