Cut a piece of cardboard slightly longer than the required tassel. Hold end of yarn at edge of cardboard and wind around cardboard until tassel is desired thickness. Thread a piece of yarn into a large eyed tapestry needle. Pass the needle and thread under the wound yarn. Unthread the needle and pull the yarn to the top of the tassel and knot securely. Cut the other end and remove the cardboard. Using another piece of yarn approx 40cm long, hold the tassel end in one hand and with the other, wind the yarn around the tassel about 2cms from the top. This forms the neck and head of the tassel. Thread the end of this yarn back onto a tapestry needle and thread the yarn over and under the neck to secure, then cut this yarn to the length of the tassel. Trim the bottom of tassel to required length or to neaten off.
