  • Lion Brand® large-eyed blunt needle 

GAUGE
1 Square = about 8 x 8 in. (20.5 x 20.5 cm). Be sure to check your gauge.

NOTES
1. 42 Squares are worked (7 in each of the 6 yarn colours), then sewn together following a diagram.
2. Each Square is worked in joined rnds with RS always facing.
3. For those who find a visual helpful, we've included a stitch diagram for Rnds 1-3. 

SQUARES (make 7 with each colour of yarn)
Ch 6; join with
a sl st in first ch to make a ring.

Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in ring, ch 2, 2 dc in ring, (ch 1, 2 dc in ring, ch 2, 2 dc in ring) 3 times, ch 1; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 – you will have eight 2-dc groups, 4 ch-1 sps and 4 ch-2 sps.
Rnd 2: Sl st in next dc, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp for corner, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next  ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next dc, *dc in next dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp for corner, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk next dc; rep from * 2 more times, sl st to top of beg ch 3 – 28 dc, 8 ch-1 sps, and 4 corner ch-2 sps (7 dc and 2 ch-1 sps along each side between corner ch-2 sps).
Rnd 3: Sl st in next dc, ch 3 (counts as dc), *dc in each dc to next corner ch-2 sp, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 sp, dc in each dc to 1 dc before next ch-1 sp, (ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp) to last dc-group before next corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, sk next dc; rep from * around; join with sl st in top of beg ch-3 – 40 dc, 12 ch-1 sps, and 4 corner ch-2 sps (10 dc and 3 ch-1 sps along each side between corner ch-2 sps).
Rnds 4-7: Rep Rnd 3 for 4 more times – 88 dc, 28 ch-1 sps, and 4 corner ch-2 sps (22 dc and 7 ch-1 sps along each side between corner ch-2 sps) at the end of Rnd 7. Fasten off. 

FINISHING
Following diagram, sew Squares together from WS. On the RS, the seams will make ridges between the Squares.

Rnd 1 (RS):
From RS, join B with a sl st in the first
st following any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same st, *(ch 1, sk next st or ch-1 sp, sc in next st or ch-1 sp) to next corner ch-2 sp, (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner ch-2 sp **, sc in next st; rep from * around ending last rep at **; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

Rnd 2: From WS with E, rep Rnd 1.
Rnd 3: From RS with A, rep Rnd 1.
Rnd 4: From WS with F, rep Rnd 1.
Rnd 5: From RS with C, rep Rnd 1.
Rnd 6: From WS with D, rep Rnd 1.

Weave in ends.
