Measurements (All strips are cut across the width of the fabric from the selvedge edge to selvage edge) Cream tonal (5) 11.5cm strips. (8) 6.5m strips. Recut into (72) 6.5cm x 11.5cm pieces. Purple tonal (10) 6.5cm strips. Dark Brown (15) 6.5cm strips. Small Purple Floral (5) 6.5cm strips. Purple Dot (5) 21.5cm strips. (18) 6.5cm strips. Recut into (72) 6.5cm x 21.5cm pieces. Brown Plaid (8) 9cm strips for the inner border. (10) 5.5cm strips for the binding. Large Purple Floral (9) 21.5cm strips for the outer border. Sewing (All seams are sewn with pieces held right sides together, raw edges even, and using a 0.5cm seam allowance) Making the Strip Sets Step 1 Sewing lengthwise, join a 6.5cm purple tonal strip to a 6.5cm dark brown strip to make a 11.5cm high strip set. Repeat to make a total of (5) strip sets. Cut the strip sets into a total of (72) 6.5cm wide segments. Step 2 Stitch 6.5cm purple tonal and dark brown strips to opposite long sides of a 11.5cm cream tonal strip to make an 21.5cm high strip set. Repeat to make a total of (5) strip sets. Cut the strip sets into a total of (72) 6.5cm wide segments. Step 3 Stitch 6.5cm dark brown and small purple floral strips to opposite long sides of an 21.5cm purple dot strip. Repeat to make a total of (5) strip sets. Cut the strip sets into a total of (72) 6.5cm wide segments. Step 4 Stitch together (2) segments from step 1, noting orientation, to make the block center. Step 5 Stitch 6.5 x 11.5 cream tonal pieces to the left and right sides of the block center. Step 6 Stitch (2) segments from step 2 to the top and bottom of the block center, noting orientation. Step 7 Stitch 6.5cm x 21.5 purple dot pieces to the left and right sides of the block center. Step 8 Stitch segments from step 3 to the top and bottom of the block center, noting orientation. Step 9 Repeat steps 4-8 to make a total of (36) blocks. QuilT Assembly Step 1 Arrange the blocks into (6) rows with (6) blocks in each row. To create the double chain design, rotate the blocks as shown in the quilt pictured on the cover. Stitch the blocks into rows and sew the rows together to complete the quilt center. Step 2 Trim the selvages from 9cm brown plaid strips and sew the strips together end to end to make a long 9cm strip. From this long strip, cut (2) 1.85cm and (2) 2m lengths (if your measurements are different, cut to fit your quilt top). Sew the shorter pieces to the left and right sides of the quilt top. Sew the longer pieces to the top and bottom. Step 3 Trim the selvages from the 21.5cm large purple floral strips and sew the strips together end to end to make a long 21.5cm strip. From this long strip, cut (2) 2m and (2) 2.5 lengths (if your measurements are different, cut to fit your quilt top). Stitch the shorter pieces to the left and right sides of the quilt top. Sew the longer pieces to the top and bottom. Step 4 Layer the completed quilt top with batting and backing and quilt as desired. Step 5 Trim the finished quilt and bind using the 5.5 brown plaid strips.
